typology skinjoyedbyana

Typology is a French brand that puts the main focus on the quality of the ingredients and the principle of caution, excluding any ingredient that can be a potential threat to health or the environment. Their approach is aimed towards minimalist formulations, eliminating unnecessary ingredients in favor of the natural and organic ingredients.

To make sure the products you choose suit your skin type and concerns, they created a skin diagnosis test that you can find on their website, and you’ll get product recommendations from their line based on your skin condition.

The products I was recommended after I took the test were:
*Hydrating cleansing bar with palmarosa
*Soothing Toner niacinamide 7% + centifolia rose extract
*Wheat-derived hyaluronic acid 3% + B5 2% Serum
*Niacinamide 12% Serum
*Face moisturizer hyaluronic acid + shea butter

Let’s dive into each of them:

Hydrating Cleansing Bar with Palmarosa

I wish you could actually smell the scent through the screen, especially if you’re a fan of citrusy scents like this one. Feels very invigorating.

This cleansing bar is described as a hydrating face soap with 8% fatty acids and 100% naturally derived ingredients. Handcrafted in France.

I must admit I don’t usually go for cleansing bars when it comes to my face as I’ve had many instances in the past with products that have been way too hash and drying for my skin. Still I kept an open mind till the end and I’m glad to say this one does not dry out my skin at all. A small amount is needed to work it around the face area and gently massage it on the skin. Foams nicely and cleanses the impurities well without stripping the skin’s natural oils. The skin feels so soft afterwards.
Love that it comes in recyclable cardboard packaging instead of plastic.
What I must highlight though, especially for individuals with sensitive skin, is that it also contains Palmarosa, Lemongrass and Exotic Verbena Essential Oils.
I haven’t encountered any irritations using it, but of course each skin type has its’ own unique traits and triggers so it is important to mention it.

Other useful information:
• PAO of 12 months
• Currently retails at € 9.80 for a 100 g (3.53 oz) bar
• Not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women.
• Contact with the eyes should be avoided as it can sting.

Unifying Serum with 12% Niacinamide

I know what you might think: “oh my, 12%, isn’t that too much?” And while that might be the case for some individuals, I am thankful my skin responds positively to this, being very effective in diminishing the mild redness I frequently experience around my cheek area and my blemishes.
I tried serums with 10% Niacinamide in the past and my skin felt okay then too, but I still did a patch test for this 12% serum just to be safe (and I recommend you do the same, please, better safe than sorry). I prefer using this mostly during my PM routine, but for anyone using it during the AM please make sure you don’t forget your sunscreen.
The texture is a super light, nonsticky, watery gel with no scent. I’m seeing actual improvement to my overall complexion and that really puts a smile to my face.
And the bottle is just so darn cute, isn’t it?😍 (yes, I am a sucker for pretty packaging, but you probably already noticed that)
I love the aesthetics of this brand and it holds a special place on my vanity (they deserve to be noticed and admired at all times haha)

Useful information:
• always perform a patch test before introducing any new actives in your routine; this might feel too concentrated for some individuals. Take it slow.
• vegan; frangrance-free; 84% naturally derived ingredients
• currently retails at € 21.50 for a 15 ml (0.51 fl oz) bottle on typology.com
• as always, SPF is your BFF.

Wheat-derived hyaluronic acid 3% + B5 2%

Not gonna lie, this one was a bit tricky to put verdicts on.

I am a big fan of products with hyaluronic acid, but most formulas out there are either a hit or a miss.

This is probably the thickest hyaluronic acid serum I’ve tried so far (and thickest serum in general for me), so thick that getting the product out was a bit of a struggle. A pump would have surely been a more comfortable alternative for us skincare users instead of the dropper.

Incorporating it into the routine is another subject…You really need to try and pinpoint which items to use alongside this serum into your routine because it does tend to pill in certain combinations.

It does have a slightly tacky and sticky finish as most hyaluronic acid serums out there, but I can also see the hydrating potential it has.

Probably my least favourite item of the box.

Soothing Toner niacinamide 7% + centifolia rose extract

It’s essentially a rose toner with a twist – the twist being the addition of 7% Niacinamide in the formula.

It has a very watery texture, and although I usually prefer using my hands to apply toners, this one made me go back to cotton pads.

Not a bad thing, just a preference of mine.

Speaking of preferences…let’s talk about the scent. This has, as mentioned previously, Centifolia Rose Extract in its formula so of course it smells like roses.

Sadly a bit overpowering for me and it lingers for quite some time. It’s not that it’s bad, a lot of people enjoy rose scented products but here’s the thing: I love roses with my heart and soul, but not so much on my face especially if heavily scented. I’m a confusing person, right?😆

I love soothing products and this one is exactly it. It works well in calming my skin and it sinks right in without being sticky, the only con for me personally being the scent that feels a bit too much.

Regardless of this, I’ll continue to use it for its calming properties.

Nourishing Moisturizer with Hyaluronic Acid and Shea Butter

From first use, I was pleasantly surprised at how light (and slightly runny) the texture is.

For some odd reason – and previous experiences, when I saw it has Shea Butter among the top ingredients, I instantly got this idea that it will yet another thick, viscous, slightly greasy cream and maybe a bit occlusive.
This one is not one of those. It’s easy to spread and feels like it melts right in upon applying it. It gives a nice dewy look instead of the greasy-ness I was worried about. It has a light and pleasant marzipan scent that reminds me of French pastries (suddenly I’m craving some😄).

You just need a bit of it to cover your face so the 50 ml tube lasts a while.

On the downside, the material of the tube can get pierced through rather easily and, as a result, more product than needed comes out. I also wish the formula had more than 1% Hyaluronic Acid in it (the Sodium Hyaluronate is found in the middle of the ingredients list), but as a whole, the Hyaluronic Acid+Shea Butter+Squalene formula is something my skin enjoys a lot.

Overall, it’s a pleasant cream that gives my skin a good boost, working well under makeup and paired with sunscreen, so I enjoy it for day use.

Hydrating Botanical Blend with Papyrus Overnight Oil

It steadily became one of my favourite items from Typology alongside their Niacinamide 12% serum.

With a mix of papyrus, borage and squalene in its formula, this face oil boost hydration and helps with skin regeneration while you enjoy your good ol’sleep. 100% naturally derived.

We all heard that during night, our skin switches the mode from protecting to repairing from the daily stress factors, the skin regeneration process being accelerated during this time.
This is why I enjoy using regenerating oils to amplify the process.

This one did not disappoint me at all. I LOVE the glow and hydration it provides, being evident not just upon applying it but also when I wake up in the morning. It does not feel to heavy or clog my pores, nor did I experience any breakouts. Still, for those with sensitive skin, I want to highlight this also has essential oils in the formula, so keep this in mind as well. The scent is light, floral (not overbearing) and pleasant to use. The glass bottle may be small (15 ml🥺), but a little goes a long way.

Overall, a winner in my books.

*PR/ Gifted.

As usual, please remember skincare is a personal journey, so what works for me might not work for you. Each skin type has different characteristics and concerns.
