If I were to sum the Selfless By Hyram product line in one phrase, it just HAS to be: Gentleness served on a plate.
You know I’ll all for non-stripping, gentle cleansers that get the job done. The Centella & Green Tea Hydrating Gel Cleanser is that. As you obviously guessed by the name, the formula contains both Centella Asiatica and Green Tea complex. Fragrance free, thin gel texture, lightly hydrating. A simple, no frills cleanser.

The Retinol & Rainbow Algae Serum I feel like it’s a good option for those just starting out their retinol journey due to the gentleness. A thin, runny texture that sinks in immediately. With 2% Encapsulated Retinol Complex (0.2% retinol) for slow release, 1.5% Rainbow Algae Complex – a type of seaweed that is said to help with hyperpigmentation and evening out the skin tone. Also has 2% Tranexamic Acid to fade hyperpigmentation and 4% Squalane for hydration. I did not experience any irritation or purging. So far it’s been in use for over a month but it’s not enough to put out my final verdict yet.

The Mandelic Acid & Rice Bran Exfoliating Serum: I found it to be a gentle exfoliator. Not one for immediate, noticeable results. It did make my skin feel nice and smooth though. It’s formulated with 3% Mandelic Acid (AHA of larger molecular weight than Glycolic Acid, which means it’s more gentle and user friendly on the skin). Also contains 0.5% Phytic acid (derived from rice bran, gentle exfoliant& antioxidant), 2.5% Gluconolactone (PHA, mild exfoliation) and 0.5% Salicylic Acid (BHA, exfoliating, pore unclogging).

The Niacinamide & Maracujรก Daily Barrier Support Moisturizer has a very light and watery texture that would be best suited for oily skin. Personally my skin needs a bit more moisture now during winter, so I always feel the need to layer a more moisturizing cream on top, but I’m curious to see whether my feelings about it would change during summer. It’s formulated with 5% Niacinamide to refine pore appearance, 1% Maracujรก Seed Oil (which is basically passionfruit seed oil) to support the skin’s healing process and 1% Murumu Seed Butter for a silky finish.

Salicylic Acid & Sea Kelp Pore Clearing and Oil Control Serum: With key ingredients such as 5% Niacinamide, 0.5% Salicylic acid, 2% Succinic acid to help with breakouts and .99% Sea Kelp complex to improve skin hydration. A light watery texture that gets absorbed immediately without feeling tacky. I reach for this one to speed the recovery process of breakouts and for pore control. Nice gentle formula that did not cause my any irritation.

The packaging for all the products except the cleanser was designed with a thin nozzle – I like the idea because you should be able to control the amount – especially important with the retinol and also to avoid product waste, but hear me out: it’s either I’m getting clumsier by the day or just…somehow I either squeeze too gently and nothing comes out of the nozzle or I end up getting impatient when squeezing and too much product comes out in one go. Am I the only one that has that happening?
Price wise, being powered by The Inkey List, I half assumed half hoped these would be around the same price range, but as you can see from the retail prices noted, they seem to be leaning more towards the middle of the price spectrum in my opinion (not uncommon for celeb collaborations to have that extra price umpf)
